Week 2: I am trying to eat protein and get my muscles to grow. I did two cycling classes at the gym and they were awesome. I ran with my boss. Next week I need to do more weight training and that's good because I have two sessions with a trainer. Fun! I am having a hard time staying away from all the candy and cakes around. If anyone has tips please let me know!
Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-145798856501253025.post-70731174071789442032012-01-20T07:55:00.000-08:002012-01-20T07:55:45.373-08:00Gold's Gym and Doterra Weight Loss Competitions

WEEK 1 The weight loss competition sounds oh so fun. Not really, not when you like to make desserts all the time. Not when you have to watch every portion size. Oh and did I mention that my neighbor who is a salesman for Winder Farms brought over THREE Carrot Cream Cakes this week because I watch his 11 year old sometimes. I gave one away to a neighbor, but I couldn't resist the luscious temptation, and I ended up devouring quite a bit. Maybe that's why I've only lost 2 pounds. I figured I would just exercise it off. So that's why I was at the gym for three hours tonight. I need to drink more water before I eat, and exercise. That's one thing this week I will try to improve on. Also eating more Doterra Slim and Sassy shakes to satiate my hunger.
Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-145798856501253025.post-44520191600259094082012-01-20T00:24:00.000-08:002012-01-20T08:08:13.631-08:00A Weekend with Riley

This blog post was saved on drafts, and I just found it today. I thoguht I had lost all the videos of Riley, so I am happy to see this is here. I think it was 2010 when I thought it would be fun to bring a racoon home for a weekend after Rachel offered. I don't know why. I realize it coud be very germy, and I promise I would never do that now. Riley is lucky to be alive. Her mom was shot because she was living in an attic in Rachel's in-laws house in Alpine. I guess racoons are a regular occurrence there. A day after she was shot later they heard alot of crying and realized there were babies. Her father in law asked his sons if anyone wanted a baby raccoon, and all four got adopted. I thank Rachel for raising such a cute little raccoon. She had to do a lot of work bottle feeding her and keeping her warm since Riley was only about a week old when she got her. The other ones ended up dying. We enjoyed playing with her, and she was very friendly. She ended up giving Riley to some comservation group after a few months because she was too hard to keep out of the house.
Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-145798856501253025.post-61977029412588458232012-01-20T00:22:00.000-08:002012-01-20T00:23:39.014-08:00Pete is 29

I just got around to posting this. Pete had a great birthday here in Spanish Fork with his family and Logan and I and Jesse. Logan loved the mango slushie drink and especially because he got to drink it our of a goblet. We had fried fish (dover sole), and I just amde up some flour mixture to fry it in which turned out really well. I also used it on the potatoes. There were so many nice things to say about Pete that we had to go around the circle more than once. I can't remember if it was two or three times, but some of the nice things were that he is a good dad, fun to be with, an outdoorsy person, and always cares about what's going on in other peoples lives. He got a nice BYU Football book from his parents. Happy Birthday!

Well now you know where my priorities don't lie. Internet at home is way too slow for uploading pics and no blog post would be good without a picture, right. So now I am at school, just barely getting the results back from my thesis data, but I decide to do a bog post. Pete and Logan made it up to Fruit Heights, which doesn't happen too often, back in June when Katie was visiting with her kids. I had to teach a racquetball class, but I heard it was fun. Logan likes olives! The Vernons (my immediate family only) have a tradition of not liking olives unless they are on a pizza. I guess Logan really is a Webb! Or Great Grandma Fern has passed it down to him.
She found it later in a cupboard. I totally know the feeling - i.e. old Halloween candy. Playing with Grandma Barkers awesome toys and games should have been fun enough for the kids. Hot Wheels racing, driving electric trains, poke the pirate and alphabet stacking blocks to name a few. Well I hope to do another post soon, but I really should get going. Check back next year.Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-145798856501253025.post-30137790155992475312010-04-21T22:44:00.000-07:002010-04-21T23:29:01.960-07:00Thanksgiving Point Tulips
The tulip festival was a great idea for my cousin June's birthday.

Mom got all 4 kids in one stroller, and gave them ice cream cone bubbles. When did you get so tall? This was taken literally minutes before he went into the MTC, as were saying good-bye at Grandma Vernon's. After you endure the monotanous MTC, you will love Taiwan even more! Julia promised she'd hold off on any wedding plans until you got back. JK, but maybe Parley will wait for you to be back. She was a great old car, with nice, comfy, soft benches that moved with controls, lots of room to nurse Logan in the back seat, and it could even seat six people for when Hallie and her kids needed a ride. But I suffered through some hot summers with no AC and only one window working, some ridicule over my window crack that was letting snow in and so got some ugly duct tape all over it, and I had to learn to use the makeup mirror for a rearview mirror - Thanks, Dad, for glueing the rearview mirror back on, it but it just wouldn't stay. Then a couple weeks ago Oldie started lurching and not accelerating when I was trying to get onto the freeway. A little scary. The last time I was going to Provo in her, she lurched as I was accelerating, and turned off completely, which made it really hard to steer and brake, especialy trying to U turn on highway 6. We got home, but I knew it was time to say bye to Oldie - plus she has 234,000 miles, which is really good for an oldsmobile. But the biggest reason is that I had already purchased a replacement for Oldie.

Meet Jim -named by his previous owner- a reliable Honda Civic with way better gas mileage, turning radius, AC (a first for me), and low miles. He has a few rust spots on the outside, but what does it matter what a car looks like if its got a good engine? Plus, a couple of my neighbors would definitely agree that Jim is better looking than Oldie, as my friend told me I was moving up in the world.

The first time I saw Jim on KSL early Sat morning I knew he woud be my car. I called and magically got an appointment to see him that morning before anyone else even though twenty people had called the day before and people kept calling all while I was buying Jim. Dozens were lined up to see him that afternoon. I trusted the U of U student selling the car, who told me that Jim had a lot of life left in him, and had been well taken care of. He did, however, get made fun of by friends for driving a car made with no right side mirror. Who looks at those anyways?
I really needed to get rid of Oldie, but I couldn't just give her to the junk yard, so I listed her for 200.00 on KSL. Explaining her current condition I was suprised to get a lot of calls, but it made me happy that Oldie was wanted. So, late last evening a black guy drove down from Bountiful to take her to his friend's shop, and fix her up. I had a nagging feeling as he was on his way that I should do something, so I remembered to take off the license plate, but I wasn't sure that was it.
Then the guy drove up in his friend's flatbed towtruck with pretty lights all down the sides and came to look at Oldie. As he took Oldie for a test drive, I went in to get the title, which he had specifically asked for before he came all the way here. Suprise, it wasn't in our important file folder binder like I thought! Now I knew why I fet like I should have been doing something. I couldn't believe it wasn't there, and thought it was just between some other papers. But after checking three times and not finding it, I was devastated. I scrambled to any place in the house I could think of, and spread all the papers out of the phonebook cupboard on the floor, out from under the bed, all over the computer desk. I had no idea where it was and it would take hours to go through everything, but by this time the guy was back and standing in the garage waiting. I felt really bad that he had driven so far because I had told him I had the title. I am sure he wouldn't have come if he had known I didn't have it. Several more minutes passed, as I was frantically searching, so I made Pete go out to apologize for me taking so long.

FINALLY, I thought to say a prayer, and then I right away I got help. As I headed downstairs, I felt like I shouldn't go down there, but to the computer room. As I entered the room I remembered a gold colored BYU folder I had put some housing papers in, and I knew the title was in there. I looked around the room thinking gold folder, gold folder, and then I thought to look under the bed, where I had already looked. I found it, and inside was the title (I forgotten I had scanned it for something last fall). I quickly ran outside, scared that the buyer had left, but he was still there. We made a quick exchange of the title for 200 cash, he loaded up Oldie -which was fun to watch with Logan - and left. Then as I closed the garage door, I realized how thankful I was to Heavenly Father for telling me where to look for that one important piece of paper.Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-145798856501253025.post-11236856722278802262010-02-09T21:51:00.000-08:002010-02-10T15:17:30.069-08:00I Want to Be Like Dad.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436489289258763154" style="DISPLAY: block; After the race we came to look at them in front of the Zermatt Resort and found out that they were ice castles made by a sculptor who worked on them 14 hours a day, moving around PVC pipe and harvesting icicles-we even saw him out there in his crampons. I found some worker and asked him, then waited while that guy called three people to try out if it was for sell and find the price, then give me 75% off. Logan has become obsessed with this little stop sign. He doesn't really know how to read, he just likes to say "Stop" after he spells it. Still, it's a start. Logan's cousin, Julia is super smart, but she has this defiant streak in her and usually just pretends she doesn't know the answer. Logan misses her the most out of any cousins, because he goes around saying, "Julia gone, Yas Degas," (Las Vegas). Good thing she is coming back to visit in two weeks!
Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-145798856501253025.post-90950383729639033192010-01-09T06:21:00.000-08:002010-01-14T07:53:37.092-08:00Snowy Days We were lucky to get a huge snowfall after Christmas, so we spent a couple days just playing in the snow and it was great. Logan got out in his snowsuit and for the first time enjoyed it. He wasn't scared to walk off in the snow all by himself in the deep snow along the fence, or walk on the slippery ice. He didn't want to go down the sled hill by himself, however.
I stayed busy making snowballs for Logan and Julia to smash. Logan kept saying, "Logan, big one." Then he would say, "Logan smash it, fingers." Julia looked cute with her snowpants and connected boots. I held both their hands as we walked through the deep snow and they liked to stomp it down, or do anything the other one did, like push snowballs through the grate. They had so much fun together, sometimes I really wish I had twins.

Our little snow house that Keirra and I spent forever making, but it was fun. We went out at 10:00 with a fashlight, some silly string and hid from the airplane bombers (Keirra was scared of this one low-flying airplane). A board and a few sleds closed off the roof so much that it got warm inside, and I could even sit up comfortably under the roof. The sledding was really good that night - it was so slick we just slid down in our snowpants, and actually went really fast! It was just gorgeous outside, although the wind started picking up. I miss just doing fun things like late-night sledding with the family. Scott and Keirra with her beautiful snowman princess.

The best sled hill was right behind our house!Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-145798856501253025.post-17616495691759666622010-01-09T06:04:00.000-08:002010-01-09T06:14:34.804-08:00Feeding Jesus
We set up a big manger scene in our house and I put a porcelain doll down as baby Jesus. Logan kept saying Grandpa fire hot. Christmas morning was a whole new experience for Logan, and he sure loved having so many fun people around like Ian and Micheal. Logan loved Megan too, he just didn't want to show it at the time. He wouldn't say her name or give her a kiss, and ran away when he got close to her in the kitchen. He was just scared of her, and now he's better, but it was really funny.

After some help, Logan learned how to open presents all by himself.

We had a great time playing with the playdough buckets that morning. This Fairy tree was one of my favorites, and there are more pictures of the gorgeous and fun trees later.

Logan and I tried to go to the park this morning, but it was freezing cold especially with the wind I found out later it was about 5 degrees. Then Grandma Helen invited us to go to the Festival of Trees with my Aunt Miriam and my cousin June who's boy, Austin, is Logan's age. We were glad Grandma saved us from a day of boredom.

Before we left Grandma was deciding what to wear to the Messiah tonight because she wouldn't have time when we got back. She walked out all fancy wearing these huge earrings and I laughed. We vetoed them because would distract from the soloist who she sits right under with the other flutes. But they are clip ons so Logan got to wear them a little and he sure liked them. When I am taking the picture he looks at the camera with his "I'm cute, and I know it" pose.
Before walking all over for two hours at the convention center we went to eat all we could at Sweet Tomatoes buffet. By that time we all felt like being pushed in a wheelchair like Grandma Carey, as June said. Logan and Austin were the cutest boys sitting together at the end of the table and eating plate after plate. Austin was always tring to feed Logan his pizza or cucumbers, and Logan just kep eating and eating. Nobody could believe that they ate so much although it was really nice because they were both so good and quiet the whole meal, eating as much as we did. There were concequences later, however, when we drove over the mountain back to Alpine Logan was eating an apple, and it was just too much food to keep in with the bumpy ride. He started saying, "Owie" and then he threw up right before we got home. What was funny is that later we were telling Grandpa what happened and as I was describing all the food Logan ate and how he just coughed it all up, Logan looked at me and opened his mouth to throw up a lot more. I was almost out of clothes by then, but we found some deep in the diaper bag.

Miriam's favorite tree, Breath of Heaven, was one I liked also, with a row of tutu's aong one side and that cute chair.

Great Grandma Carey and Logan got free rides. Here he is ready and excited his first day. It's been three weeks since then, and the transition has been hard for this little mama's boy. He won't let me get even cose to the door or he screams. Last week Pete dropped him off crying and after 15 minutes I hear his screams for "Mommy, Mommy" in the hall as the leader brought him to me. He was so upset that he wouldn't let Pete or I get more than a few feet away, wanting to hold onto both of us at the same time. He is such a cute guy, even when he is crying. I think I just need to explain it to him a few hours before church so he is prepared.

It was such a nice day outside for being the middle of November.

Just to please me, Pete did his hair spikey like Logan's. So, Prenten- I am waiting to see what you did with your squat, little cinderella pumpkin. We were part of a traveling circus this year. I was the fortune teller along with the tiger and his trainer. I should have had them do a little act, but Logan really wasn't willing to stand up on his own. Doesn't Pete look the part like some Bill Sykes or something?
Poor Emily, our neighbor whose house we are standing in front of, has the swine flu and couldn't go trick or treating. Logan took her some rice crispy treats and candy, but we didn't see her. Get well soon, Emily- Logan and I miss you and love you!
Lions and tigers and please don't cry! We stopped to visit Jaron, and as you can see the tiger was a little bit tired. The trick or treating didn't work so well since the tiger was too tired to stand up. I would hold the pumpkin bucket out for his candy, but he didn't seem to care, plus he doesn't need any more candy. We just did a few houses, and enjoyed seeing the neighborhood.
Alaya the unicorn, Julia the poodle, and Keirra the black fairy, with Scott's mom, Janice. Thursday night we stopped at Julia's work -Heritage Care Center where they had a super fun party. I am sorry I didn't get more pictures, like Hallie, because the old people were so cute, and the spooky graveyard was really cool. Good job Julia, I am coming next year for sure. Then Logan will be able to do all the fun games like bowling and ring toss. Congrats, Alaya for winning a goldfish!
Hallie took this while I was driving -sooooo cute. Did you know my cushy oldsmobile actually holds six people - Hallie, Alaya and I in the front with the three carseats in the back. Squishy, but all the more merry, especially when the whole back seat started fussing as we were five minutes from home. Us in the front just imitated their fussing, and the backseat madly screamed all the louder until our car was rolling with noise. Maybe I won't ever need a van, just someone to get my window to go up.

Games at the Vernon Halloween party Friday night included an eyeball relay, a treat relay, a spider race, a treat walk, a tiger's cave, the limbo, and find the broomsticks and spiders. It's hard to see in the vid, but he was a guy in a car wreck, with one half of his body normal and the other all scraped up, from his sock to his face. We ended up going on the front steps to eat the otter pops after he made sure I got the scissors out of the drawer. Then he got so happy he ran really fast to the front door - he knows thats where we eat otter pops together. It is actually really fun that he always wants me to eat one with him he keeps pointing to his and mine. Then as soon as he is done he hurries to the door with all the trash and whines so I'll open it and he can run to the trash can. He sure helps me keep things clean.
Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-145798856501253025.post-14574523395436239532009-09-18T06:16:00.000-07:002009-09-27T23:52:25.768-07:00Kids and KidsEvery time we go to Alpine we stop to play at Rachel's farm. She has baby goats, chickens, ducks, baby chicks, and sometimes horses or cows in the pasture right next door. We love this cute little brown spotted goat that Joel named Escobel. We call her Bell, and she will follow you around, while the all black goats just run away from you. Then the teacher said that actually they were all the same countries back then. It was such a fun evening.
Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02904392981805602832noreply@blogger.com2
